Maverick

Mi chiamo Maverick, arrivo da Segrate dove abito con la famiglia e sto andando in piazza Lima a vedere dei negozi. I miei genitori sono originari delle Filippine, ma io sono nato qui. È una storia complicata perché poi ci siamo trasferiti di nuovo nelle Filippine per otto anni e infine siamo tornati in Italia. Mio padre fa il portiere e mia madre è badante, poi ho una sorella più piccola. Io ho fatto l’istituto alberghiero e ora studio mediazione linguistica all’università Bicocca: l’ho scelta perché sono sempre stato portato per le lingue. Ne conosco cinque: italiano, inglese, francese, filippino e un dialetto locale delle Filippine. Dopo l’università vorrei lavorare in un hotel, ho già fatto tre stage in passato e mi sono piaciuti molto. Il mio sogno sarebbe di fare il direttore d’albergo. Il mio capo, quando lavoravo in uno degli stage, era semplicemente diplomato ma diceva sempre che lavorando duro si può arrivare a fare il direttore. Certo, più ancora mi piacerebbe avere un albergo mio. Forse ci sarà la possibilità: la mia famiglia possiede dei piccoli residence nelle Filippine, comprati col lavoro di mio padre in Italia perché laggiù la vita costa molto meno. Ma mi piacerebbe anche vivere a Londra: una parte dei nostri parenti abita lì e quindi ho parecchi agganci.

My name is Maverick, coming from Segrate where I live with the family and I'm going to Lima sqare to see the shops. My parents are from the Philippines, but I was born here. It's a complicated story because we moved back to the Philippines for eight years and finally came once gain back in Italy. My father is a janitor and my mother is caregiver, I also have a younger sister. I studied at the hospitality training institute and now I'm studying linguistic mediation at the University Bicocca: I chose it because I've always been good at languages. I know five of them: Italian, English, French, Filipino and a local dialect of the Philippines. After college I would like to work in a hotel, I have already done three internships in the past and enjoyed them very much. My dream would be to manage a hotel. My boss, when I worked in one of the stages, he was just a graduate but he always said that if you work hard you can you get up to do the director role. What I'd love the most would be to own a hotel. Perhaps it will be possible: my family owns a small residence in the Philippines, bought with the work of my father in Italy because there, in hte Philippines, life's cost is much less than here. But I'd also like to live in London: a part of our family lives there and then I have some contacts over there.
