Mi chiamo Tiago e sono portoghese, vivo a Cinta, a trenta chilometri da Lisbona. Sono a Milano da quattro mesi per un Erasmus in design al Politecnico. Arrivo da casa, a Novate Milanese, dove vivo con tre amici portoghesi anche loro qui con l’Erasmus e sto andando a Baranzate, da un altro amico portoghese con cui lavoro al progetto finale del terzo anno di studi. Io sono bravo in una parte, il mio amico in un’altra, insieme ci integriamo e il progetto viene meglio. Collaborare è il metodo di lavoro ideale nel campo del design. Darwin pensava che l’evoluzione fosse una lotta, invece Kropotkin, il grande anarchico russo, diceva che la cooperazione è fondamentale per la specie e io sono d’accordo con lui. Insieme stiamo progettando una camera frigorifera per alimenti da asporto a forma di grande bonsai. Il progetto è per EPTA Refrigeration, una multinazionale. Il nostro è un sistema modulare fatto di polietilene e metallo: c’è una base in cui è installato il frigorifero, poi una piantana con dei bracci su cui sono collocati dei sistemi di packaging di nostra progettazione utilizzabili per il sushi. Nel sacco ci sono tutti i pezzi del progetto.

My name is Tiago and I am Portuguese. I live in Cinta, 30 Kms from Lisbon. I have been in Milan for four months with the Erasmus Project. I study Design at the Politecnico University. I am coming from home, in Novate Milanese. I live there with three Portuguese house-mates. They are here with the Erasmus Project too. I am going to Baranzate, to meet another Portuguese friend of mine. I am working with him on the final project that we complete on the third year of University. I am good at some aspects of the project and my friend is good at others. Together we complement each other and the project is more successful. Collaboration is the best working approach in the design industry. Darwin thought that evolution was a fight, while Kropotkin, the great Russian anarchist, thought that co-operation is essential for species and I agree with him. Together we are designing a cool cell, in the shape of a bonsai, for take-away food. The project is commissioned by EPTA Refrigeration, a multinational company. The system is modular, made with metal and polyethylene, there is a base where the fridge is installed and then a stand with supporting arms where sushi packaging can be fitted, we have designed all the elements ourselves. The bag contains all the parts of the project.
